Thunderbird Intertribal Pow Wow
We are a 501(c)(3) public charity that functions in cooperation with local military personnel and generous local support to present an annual Native American Powwow in November as part of the National American Indian Heritage Month activities. The goals of our council are to educate the local community about Native American Indians and their role in the past and the present, to promote cultural understanding, and to encourage participation and goodwill between Native and Non-Native peoples.
The Thunderbird Intertribal Powwow
We are
A three-day festival providing opportunities for
everyone to experience Native American Arts and
Culture.
Provides a look into the past. History and past
cultures are on display, but so is the present, with
craftsmen and demonstrators ready to share their
stories.
A place to enjoy performances by exceptional
dancers, singers, and storytellers. Guests have an
opportunity to interact with Native American
artisans, watch demonstrations, have great food,
and enjoy the afternoons and evenings.
Future Goals
Expanding community outreach by increasing
cultural sharing events such as powwows and
developing new school programs.
Educating the community, teaching traditional
ways through dancing, singing, and craft-making classes.
Providing services to local Native American
Indian populations on topics such as housing,
education, and alcohol treatment programs.
